Roadworthy Inspectors Course | Must do new rules from Nov 2024

See the official Response

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is introducing mandatory training for new applicants and

existing AIS scheme members on 1 November 2024.

The training aims to ensure that all scheme members are trained to a consistent high standard in their role and

responsibilities under the AIS scheme.

The training is self-paced and will be delivered online by TAFE Queensland. Information is provided below

regarding your training obligations.

TMR will fully subsidise the training for all existing AIS scheme members approved/accredited on or

before 1 November 2024. This letter contains important information about how you can access the

fully subsidised training.

What training do I need to complete?

All existing AIS and nominee approval holders and approved examiners (AEs) must complete the core module.

AEs must also complete the inspection module for each inspection type they are accredited for. Alternatively, an

AE can voluntarily surrender those inspection types that they no longer want to maintain accreditation for.

AEs will only be fully subsidised for the inspection modules for the vehicle types they are accredited to inspect as

of 1 November 2024. If a vehicle inspection type is added to an AE accreditation after this date, the AE will be

responsible for paying the cost of this module to TAFE Queensland at the time of enrolment.

When do I need to complete the training?

The training will be available from 1 November 2024. You must successfully complete the training by 30 April

New AIS scheme applicants will need to successfully complete the required training before their application can

be approved.

This training will only need to be completed once.

What happens if I don’t complete the training by 30 April 2025?

TMR will take action to amend, suspend or cancel your AIS or nominee approval and/or AE accreditation if you

haven’t completed the required training by 30 April 2025.

As a result, you will not be able to conduct inspections and/or issue any inspection certificates.

How do I access the training?

To be eligible for TMR to fully subsidise your training, you must complete the Existing AIS scheme

member consent form online.

Once TMR receives your completed online form submission, an email will be sent to you from TAFE Queensland

containing enrolment instructions for each of the modules that you are required to complete.

If TMR doesn’t receive your online form submission, your training won’t be subsidised. As a result, you will be

responsible for the cost of your required training. These costs are listed below.

Module Cost Discount Discount Cost

Core module $370 N/A $370.00

Core module + 1 inspection type $465 N/A $465.00
